The South Football Club celebrates two big milestones today in Women’s and Men’s footy.
Marcus O’Brien will chalk up 150 A-Grade games while Taylor Degoumois will become the first Roo to play 50 in the Women’s when they play Central at Alma Oval.
Taylor said she was excited about her 50th.
“It’s a massive milestone and I feel really proud,” she said. “I’m a little nervous; we’re playing Central so it’s a big game.”
O’Brien was a bit more relaxed about his milestone and didn’t seem to be phased.
“I was more nervous about my first A-Grade game than my 150.
“It should just be like any other game.
“Hopefully we keep up our good form and get ready to take it into finals.
“Another win would be rather good right about now.”
The pair both spend plenty of time along the back flank and have been consistent performers this season.
In the Women’s, Central has been the premiers for every season so far, but Taylor believes her side is in with a chance.
“We’ve been playing as hard as we can all year.
“It’s phenomenal how much we’ve improved.
“I reckon we’re definitely in the running for a premiership.
“We’re going to give it a good hard crack.”
Having been a part of the 2009 and 2014 premierships, O’Brien is hopeful his side can add a few more premierships to the South FC wall.
“As long as the boys stick together, we should have a pretty good team throughout the years.
“It’s a great club to be a part of and hopefully I’ve got another 150 in me.”
