Never too late for NAIDOC fun

Thursday, 23rd July, 2015

Sacred Heart Parish Primary students took part in belated NAIDOC celebrations yesterday by painting poles and boomerangs in Aboriginal colours, doing Aboriginal flag craft, playing Aboriginal games and making johnny cakes.

They worked in groups and spent half an hour on each activity before moving onto the next.

A school spokeswoman said the students were also visited by Ability Link Land Council, NRL Broken Hill, and the Broken Hill High School mentoring program.

“The students have marked NAIDOC Day before but this is the first time they have had a day for it,” she said.

“The kids have enjoyed themselves. It’s been a great day.

“We will definitely be doing it again next year.”
