In the lead-up to the Max Potential Showcase, local young adults are busy working on their community projects.

As part of his project, Jason Masclet will be giving Year 2 students from Morgan Street Public School free swimming lessons.

He will be offering an eight-week swimming program at the YMCA in term 3.

Jason has many years of experience of swimming and he wanted to offer kids the opportunity to learn such an important skill.

“Over the 22 weeks of the program, my coach Mark Craven and I met and set goals,” Jason said.

“I wanted to improve my swim coaching ability and thought the community project was a way to do this.

“I believe everyone should have an equal chance at swimming.”

It is also a good chance for kids to do some physical activity if they don’t participate in any other sport as well.

“The event is being held for kids who don’t normally have the chance to participate in local swimming lessons or kids who do not participate in other sports,” Jason said.

The 2015 Max Potential Showcase is on Monday August 24.
