Broken Hill’s Bakers Delight is hoping to give a present to the Flying Doctor this Christmas.
Steve Vine, who is the franchisee of the bakery, said he was aiming to raise at least $1000 for a donation to the good doctor with the help of his loyal customers.
Up to December 31, one dollar from all six-packs of Fruit Mince Tarts, Lemon Tarts and Christmas Cakes sold will be donated to RFDS South East section.
“The support the RFDS provides to people in country Australia is second to none, and we’re very lucky to have their services with a base here in Broken Hill”, Steve said.
“It’s great to be able to do something good for them, particularly around Christmas when family time is so important.”
RFDS General Manager of Marketing and Fundraising, Brendon Smyth, said the bakery’s help was deeply appreciated.
“This is another great example of Broken Hill supporting the Flying Doctor through community fundraising,” Mr Smyth said.
“It is wonderful to see the community rallying to support a vital service like the RFDS and we are genuinely thankful to Broken Hill Bakers Delight for their support.”
Steve and wife Kyla have been baking fresh bread for Broken Hill for more than 11 years during which time they have consistently helped the local Breast Cancer Support Group, Breast Cancer Network Australia, and other school and sporting groups in the city.
Everyone is invited to visit the bakery at the Plaza for a Christmas treat or to make a donation in the collection tin.
