The Broken Hill Soccer Association (BHSA) Structured Development Program (SDP) for juniors from 5 to 17 is in full swing on Monday nights.

Over 50 juniors are enrolled in the soccer program and enjoying a diverse training program targeting key skill sets and building the necessary foundations for our future soccer stars.

This systematic approach to training and development was conceptualised by the BHSA to take Broken Hill junior soccer players to the next level.

The program, unique to the BHSA, was developed by committee member, David Inglis.

The program, which runs from October 2015 to April 2016, aims to introduce a structured and systematic approach to the development of junior soccer players in Broken Hill. By monitoring individual progress, implementing a consistent and structured approach to the delivery of sessions and utilising proven training drills and programs, each participant is improving their technical ability and understanding of the game.

The BHSA is a volunteer organisation that is fortunate to have a core group of enthusiastic and experienced coaches to deliver the SDP.

The coaches are rotated through the various age groups to ensure that all participants benefit from shared learning.

The BHSA interactive website is used to record progress in challenges and player development. Parents are encouraged to login and monitor the progress of their child’s development.

The BHSA is passionate about the development of the game, our players and improving the standard of soccer in Broken Hill.

To do this we need to develop greater technical ability and a better understanding of the game and the SDP is a vehicle to achieve this.

We need to continually improve our facilities and infrastructure, build relationships with stakeholders and plan for the future.

This all takes time and effort and requires patience from players, parents, coaches, administrators, referees and supporters.

However, if we unite for the betterment of soccer in Broken Hill with determined effort, we can achieve outcomes that any region in Australia would be proud of.
