In a quiet town far, far away there was a stirring of film devotees emerging from their computer screens to sit in front of the silver screen.

At midnight tonight, the Silver City Cinema will screen the Star Wars - The Force Awakens.

This is the seventh installment in the main Star Wars film series, and it stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher.

The story is set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983).

There has been a lot of hype for the film as old and young fans count down to see the latest film.

The cinema has been pre-selling tickets for the event and have received a lot of interest.

Staff expect to see people get dressed up in all sorts of costumes for the midnight screening.

Seven-year-old Brinley Wait can’t wait to see the new Star Wars film.

Unfortunately, the midnight screening is a bit past his bed time.

But, he loves the franchise so much, his aunty is taking him to see the film tomorrow and then his pop is taking him on Friday.

Brinley’s hot tip is that the movie will be about fighting a “new Darth Vader”.

And he thinks Luke Skywalker is going to come back as a “baddie”.

The cinema will also screen the movie tomorrow at 11am, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm.
