The Broken Hill Soccer Association summer 7-a-Side social competition wound up last week after a successful nine weeks of play.

Approximately 300 players participated in the competition on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

The 7-A-Side format was played on half size pitches, encouraging many players to come out of ‘retirement’ for the fun, social game.

Many new to soccer also participated and the association said it was great to see members of all four clubs reunited at the home of soccer in Broken Hill.

At the end of the nine rounds BVCC Try Hards finished on top of Division One.

Battle for Zendikar took out the honours in Division Two and Salty Ballzs were top of the table for the Tuesday night competition in Division Three.

In Wednesday night’s competition, Joey’s 12s were on top of the table for the junior Division D, KMA were the stand out winners in Division E and the Goatettes narrowly claimed top of the table in the Women’s Division.

“Overall the BHSA summer 7-A-Side social competition was an enjoyable sporting experience for all involved,” a spokesman for the association said.

“The BHSA look forward to a united 2016, with plans to host a pre-season 5-A-Side competition as a curtain raiser to the winter competition.”
