Glenn fires in Dubbo
Tuesday, 29th December, 2015
Local Glenn Pollock has received two placings at the NSW State Titles in the World Association 1500 Match.
The Broken Hill Pistol Club Member travelled to Dubbo to compete in the NSW State Titles in the World Association 1500 Match.
Glenn was quite happy with his results placing him third in Standard Semi-Auto Pistol and second in Distinguished Pistol and seventh in Open Auto Pistol.
Glenn said he hadn’t shot these matches for eight years as he has been shooting Action Match for some time.
The results have placed him in the NSW Top 10 List in Standard, Auto and Distinguished Pistol.
“I don’t compete as much anymore due to work commitments,” he said.
“But I enjoy it when I can do it. I’ve made lots of friends over the years.”
Glenn has been shooting for over 20 years.
“I wouldn’t mind going to the state titles but they usually fall around Easter - so it will depend on work.”
Glenn competed against other shooters who were part of the Australian team.
“I like the competition, it’s really hard when working shift work to play team sports.
“Even though shooting is a team sport, you can still play individually. When I’m off I try and go out shooting.”
He said shooting can take a lot of skill.
“It’s one of the hardest sports I have participated in.
“You have to be physically and mentally prepared to get up there.”
Glenn has travelled to the US, New Zealand and all around Australia to compete for shooting.
“In 2012 I was the manager for the Australian team for Action Pistol,” he said.
Glenn really enjoyed the weekend of shooting and catching up with friends that he hasn’t seen for several years and fellow shooters from across Australia.
“It’s just a really good sport, I’ve met lifetime friends along the way and done lots of travelling.”
