As the New Year begins, the YMCA expects to see lots of locals take on a fit and healthy resolution.
Centre Manager for Broken Hill YMCA and Broken Hill Regional Aquatic Centre Shane Simmons said the period between Christmas and January 1 is traditionally quiet.
“We tend to see more people sign up after January 1,” he said. “We can safely say that there will be an avalanche of people coming in to get healthy, fit and active.
“This time, last year, the first two months of the year we had 300 contracts.
“People will come in and set a promise, and achievements, for future goals.”
They will have a New Year offer on sale from January 1, which is 30 days for $30.
“This is a great offer meaning locals can check out what the Y has to offer across our two locations without being locked in.
“The 30 days for $30 promotion runs until February 29 and can only be used once throughout the campaign.
“It is an affordable way to have a taste and then you’re not locked in.”
The New Year is a great way to make a promise of starting or maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle, Shane said.
“I think the success for sticking to a New Year promise is to do it with others,” he said.
“People who sign up with family members, friends and partners tend to keep motivated.
“So our recommendation would be to join with a friend and you can achieve goal together and keep motivated.”
Over the New Year period, the Aquatic Centre will have the slide open from 1-4pm on New Year’s Day and 3.30-6.30pm on Saturday, January 2.
