While Charlotte and Oliver are popular baby names in NSW, locally Archie and Brooklyn topped the list last year.
During the week, the NSW Registry of Births Deaths & Marriages released information on the top baby names for the city.
“We looked at births already registered in Broken Hill for 2015,” a spokesman for the Registry said.
“Top name for boys was Archie, and for girls it was Brooklyn.
“A final report of top 100 baby names for NSW in 2015 will be posted to our website in April 2016. Parents have 60 days to lodge their birth registration.”
Last week, it was reported that Oliver was most popular baby boy’s name in NSW for the second year in a row, while Charlotte is the number one name for newborn girls for the second time in three years.
Local couple Carl and Emmy Williams had their first baby, Archie Jack in April last year.
“We don’t even know where the name came from,” Emmy said.
“Carl just came up with it and we didn’t really know any other Archies.”
The pair thought their son’s name was unique but are happy it is popular in the city.
“We hadn’t heard it anywhere else,” Carl said.
“We thought we were onto something different,” Emmy added.
She said it might be tricky when it comes time to go to school.
