Police hunt escapees

Police are searching for two inmates who escaped from a minimum security prison in Gongolgon, 70km south of Brewarrina, on Thursday night.

Lucas (or Lukas) Hines, 20, and Paul Jackson, 18, were noticed missing by Corrections Officers during a routine check about 11.30pm.

Police said it was reported that the men were last seen jumping a fence about 20km north of the prison about 3.45am.

Hines is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 160-175cm tall, with a thin build, brown eyes and black hair.

Jackson is also of Aboriginal appearance and is 180-185cm tall. He also has a thin build, brown eyes and brown hair.

Both were wearing grey shirts at the time of their escape.

Police are warning the public not to approach the men if they see them, but to phone Triple Zero (000) immediately.
