Telstra was yesterday hoping to fix a fault which had left some internet and landline customers without service for three weeks.

The telco traced the problem to a dodgy cable that runs underneath Chloride Street - near the corner of Williams Street - and technicians from Dubbo worked through the heat and humidity this week to fix it.

They had to bore either side of Chloride Street to insert a new cable underneath the road.

The faulty cable had suffered water damage along various points.

“We are unable to make repairs if it is wet, so weather has also impacted the repair schedule,” Area General Manager Scott Curtin said yesterday.

The outage impacted about 267 ADSL and landline services.

“We apologise for the outage that has impacted services for some of our Broken Hill customers,” Mr Curtin said.

“The works are scheduled for completion by the end of today,” he said yesterday.
