Kinchega puts out call to artists

Saturday, 30th January, 2016

Local Aboriginal artists of all ages are urged to create something special to celebrate the involvement of Aboriginal people in the management of Kinchega National Park.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife with the Menindee Aboriginal Elders Council are running a competition for the design of a logo as well as some Aboriginal-inspired artwork for signage.

Ranger Julieanne Doyle said any Aboriginal person with ties to Kinchega National Park was able to enter, including primary and secondary school categories for the signage design.

“Thanks to the Aboriginal Park Partnerships Program we have some fabulous gifts and prizes to award the winning artists.

“It is a great opportunity for a local artist to be part of a wonderful identity building project for our co-management group,” Ms Doyle said.

Anybody interested in entering the competition can contact Julieanne Doyle for a project brief and entry form in person at the Argent St Office or via phone 08 8080 3200 or email Julieanne.Doyle@environment.nsw.gov.au.
