The city’s older residents were treated to a day of song, dance, and comedy yesterday at Council’s Seniors Variety Concert.

The event opened with dance instructors Joy Baldwin and Dawn Johnson receiving certificates of appreciation for their dedication over the years, before the fabulous Philmah Box took the stage.

The drag queen entertainer proved to be a massive hit with the audience, as she interacted with the crowd and strutted around the Civic Centre to the tune of “Locomotion” and Sheena Easton’s hit “9 to 5”.

There were plenty of other fine performances throughout the day, including six-year-old Gracie Crannaford who produced a fine rendition of “Wouldn’t It Be Lovely”.
