Eleven-year-old Kalyce Pressler from the Silver City Swim Club continues to live up to her nickname of ‘Pocket Rocket’.

Competing in Adelaide at the Marion Swimming Club Fast Fifties Carnival on Saturday, Kalyce was all class in taking out the overall 11 years champion trophy for the fastest combined time from the 50m butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.

Kalyce convincingly won the butterfly and backstroke events, came second by a fingernail in the breaststroke and third in freestyle, a mere 0.26 of a second from first place.

She was congratulated by Australian Dolphins’ Swim Team member and Rio Olympics hopeful, Kyle Chalmers.

Kalyce also recently received an inspiring postcard from dual Olympic Gold Medallist and World Record holder Jessicah Schipper, in recognition of her superb efforts at the SA State Age Swimming Championships.

Four other Silver City Swim Club teammates also competed in Adelaide with excellent results.

Kiara Pressler swam strongly to place second in both the 14 years 50m butterfly and backstroke with a personal best time in butterfly of 31.11 seconds.

Lydia Hinton-Neal shone in the 12 years 50m breaststroke to finish second in a PB time of 39.46 seconds.

Kai Pressler (16) competed extremely well in the highly competitive 15 years & over division against the likes of world class swimmers Kyle Chalmers (17) and Andrew Abood (25), and recorded a PB in fly.

Crawford Hinton-Neal (6) excelled as the youngest swimmer of the entire competition, swimming against athletes two years older in the 8 years and under age-group. He produced a 7.33 second PB in backstroke and a 1.03 second PB in breaststroke.

Next on the agenda for the Silver City Swim Club is its last point score for the season on Saturday, March 5, followed by the Club Championships (12th & 13th March), and Presentation Night on Saturday April 30.

Tickets are also now available in the club’s annual Treasure Chest draw fundraiser, with first prize being $10,000 cash. It will be drawn on April 30. Tickets are available from club members.
