The visit from the Today Show on Monday has got a lot of people talking, especially since it mentioned local businesses including the Silverton Hotel, the Royal Exchange, the Palace Hotel, Hello World Broken Hill and even the BDT.
Hello World Broken Hill’s Wincen Cuy said it was all good publicity for the city.
“Hello World is a brand name that is all over Australia,” Mr Cuy said.
“It was a great initiative to put Broken Hill into a national brand such as Hello World. It means that we have a bookable product.”
Mr Cuy said that nationally Hello World did a lot of marketing with the Today Show.
“When they talk about travel they use Hello World as part of that action,” he said
Mr Cuy said he didn’t know how that might translate into more people booking holidays in Broken Hill.
“If you saw the show and ring from Geelong to look at a package, you will be directed to your closest Hello World branch. So we’re not sure of bookings just yet.
“But it was a great opportunity for Broken Hill to get product out there.
“I think the exposure was absolutely fabulous on national television; we just have to convert that into bookings.”
Mr Cuy said the Broken Hill show was also a big hit.
“I think, for the first time, the Today Show outranked Sunrise in viewing as well.
“So that shows we have pulling power. Broken Hill has a brand and we need to bring that to the fore.
“We just need opportunity, support and some money put into it.
“Broken Hill has product, it has a brand, it just needs exposure.”
