Nevada loses her lovely locks
Monday, 14th March, 2016
A 16-year-old high school student took a big leap of faith by shaving her hair off for the World’s Greatest Shave.
Nevada Ford will walked into her hairdressers on the weekend and walked out without hair.
She set a goal of $3,000 for the shave, and as of yesterday, had beat it by $33.
Her school, Willyama High School, held a casual clothes and crazy hair day with a cake stall on Thursday to help Nevada raise money.
“I raised over $600 from that,” Nevada said.
“I decided to do the shave because I have friends who have family members with Leukaemia.”
Nevada’s mum Karen said they’ve also had family members suffer from other forms of cancer.
“I think it really hit home,” Karen said.
Nevada got her hair shaved at NVU.

Money raised for the World’s Greatest Shave goes towards the Leukaemia Foundation.
The Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding.
The money raised will go towards research, which is needed to discover kinder and more effective treatments for blood cancer.
Any sponsorship will also support families when they need it most, providing people with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma with a free home-away-from-home near hospital during their treatment.
