Time for a river trip

Families contemplating a trip away over the Easter break are encouraged to consider our struggling neighbour on the river as a holiday destination.
Broken Hill Speedboat Club commodore Kevin Stacey said Menindee and its surrounds would be thrilled to receive some extra tourist numbers over the holiday period as it struggles through the current water crisis.
“People can take the opportunity to explore the area to get a real perspective on the water issues we are currently facing,” said Mr Stacey.
“Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to get some life into the area over Easter.”
Menindee’s caravan parks, hotels, and the Burke and Wills Motel can accommodate guests looking to stay in the town, or those looking to get into the outdoors can take advantage of the many camp sites dotted around the area or the facilities at Copi Hollow.
Although the water at Copi has been receding, it still remains a great family destination for a swim, outdoor recreation, or just a quiet weekend away.
Camping and cabin sites are available, there is a park and play equipment for kids, and a kiosk, barbecue, and bar facilities are also on site.
