Firies donate to Salvos

Firefighters at the Broken Hill Central Fire Station have donated food and supplies to those who are in need.
Senior fire-fighter Tim Hall said he was pleased with the results from recent fundraising and hopes the good will go to a good cause.
“We became aware that some people in the area are doing it a bit tough,” he said.
“So we did a bit of fundraising within our own fire service along with donations from other fire-fighters across the state and came up with some money.
“We went to the local Foodland and asked them to put together some kits for us that can be taken anywhere, they included not only food but also toothpaste, moisturiser, little luxuries of life that tend to drop off when people face financial hard times.
“We got six boxes together and we are donating them to the Salvos.”
Paul Kurth, a Salvation Army Captain, said the donation is really good to see.
“It’s great, it shows that we are in it together,” he said.
“There’s lots of people in need out there now and the people who need it most are going to get it.”
