t’s not every day you set a new world record but a former local woman and her friends have just helped break not one, but two of them.

Margo Hinton-Angel and three of her friends were part of the Most Women at a Female Bike Meet record, and Most Women on Motorcycles record set in Dubbo over the weekend.

In 2014 the 2WheelBabes set a record for most women on bikes (221) at Ballina for the annual Babe Raid, but the record was beaten in August 2015 by a group of 246 women in the UK.

The organisers were also hoping to surpass the most women at a motorcycle meet, which stood at 681.

“The event was hosted by 2WheelBabes and Debb Dagger from Dagger Events,” Margo said.

“Women from all over Australia rode their motorbikes to Dubbo to take part in this event.

“The record ended up being 1002 women on bikes.”

Margo and her friends decided to continue onto Broken Hill.

“I wanted to show my friends around my home town and catch up with my family,” she said.

“Then we will ride along the Great Ocean Road to get home to Newcastle.”

Margo has been riding for two and a half years and met her friends through motorbike riding.

“Two of the girls are still on their Ps,” she said.

“We’ve all been riding for under two and a half years.

“Riding is a really good social event, you meet people with the same interests in a similar age group.

“We’re involved in a club called “Saturday Riders Newcastle.

“We really love it, it’s been great.”

Margo said she wanted to thank her husband for travelling with them as well as the organisers for the World Record event.
