Rev up for MotorX
Saturday, 16th April, 2016
Tomorrow the local motocross returns with round one of the Broken Hill Speedway Club MotorX.
Racing will start at 9am and the club is looking forward to building on the numbers from last year.
But in an attempt to gain more members, they will be conducting a kick start program today for any new riders who would like to race or just participate in the MotorX competition.
The course is for beginners only and will begin at noon.
The line up for Sunday will include 50cc Div 1 and after today’s course, this class should increase in numbers.
Some riders to watch will be Tait Philp who, if his dad can start his bike, should post some fast lap times.
This “Speed Demon” gets faster and faster the more he races.
Additionally, Akira Stubbing has shown tremendous improvement and confidence on his bike in the off season and is looking forward to racing and getting his licence (hurry up mum and dad) this year.
The Div 2 50cc will see some close racing this season from the likes of Cambell Cadd who is the “Mr Consistency’ of this class, while Nate Sparrow improves every ride and the Lihou boys Jobe and Cruze make for a competitive class.
The 65cc division will see the likes of classy rider Ripley Rowbothom battle it out with Taz Lihou who leaves nothing out on the track.
Match them with Max Howse and Talon Harvey and this should be one of the standout classes for the year.
The 85cc/150cc div will have a few riders backing up from the 65cc division as well as Jaxon Pearce and Xavier Fergusson, to name a few in this highly competitive class.
Other classes on the day will see Jnr Lites, Snr lites , Open, Vets35+, Ladies and an all powers race.
With Sunday looking pretty good weatherwise, all is in readiness for the Motorcross season to commence. Online nomination forms are on the facebook page and you can also nominate on the day.
The club is looking for volunteers to work in the canteen on a roster system for the season, so if you’re able to help, don’t be afraid to let the club know.
A great day’s racing is assured for a gold coin donation with canteen facilities available so it would be great to see people get behind the riders and the club.
