Both teams need a win
Saturday, 30th April, 2016
This round four clash between West and Central today at League Headquarters has all the ingredients to be a blockbuster.
Both sides have recorded just the one win after three rounds, having promised so much leading into the season.
The Robins won their opening encounter in pretty convincing fashion but since then they have dropped off in a lot of areas, especially the four quarter efforts.
The Magpies, on the other hand, scored a nail-biting win over North in round two but apart from that they are yet to fire a shot with any sort of consistency. That’s why I think both sides with something to prove will be out to prove the doubters today.
The Robins have made several changes for this important clash, and with a few of their better players named on the interchange bench it is hard to get a gauge on who is actually in or out.
The Magpies have kept their side a secret until before kick off - such intrigue from both sides and it is only round four.
The Robins are still without Cieslik and Bates looks to be missing again and this will leave a big hole in the forward half. A lot of responsibility will now fall on Teelow, Grose and Conway, if they start up forward, to kick goals.
Around the middle the Robins are getting great service from King, Mackiewicz and Tonkin, and while Nelson continues to be the dominant ruckman in the competition, the West coaching staff will be looking to get more out of Sheargold, Martin and Smith.
If they can get a bigger input from most players this will go a long way to the Robins setting up the win.
Their back half has done a serviceable job with Harvey and Pearce leading the way, but again they will need a solid performance from the whole back six if they are going to restrict the Magpies to a losing score.
Not much to say about the Magpies. I really don’t know much about “Not Supplied”, but whoever he is, he is in for a big day.
The Robins should win this game by 28 pts
