Stuart McIntosh is the recipient for the Registered Nurse of the Year Award with the Local Health District.

Yesterday the Far West LHD recognised their nursing staff with a luncheon and the Nurse of the Year Awards.

Along with Stuart, Assistant In Nursing (AIN) of the Year was awarded to Alexis Lenton, Enrolled Nurse of the Year was awarded to Glenys Dayman and the Nursing Team of the Year went to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Broken Hill Health Service.

Registered Nurse awardee Stuart has been working as a Registered Nurse at Menindee Health Service since 2013.

He followed his dream of becoming a “remote nurse” by initially working casually at Menindee and then full time from 2014.

Stuart has undertaken all of the education necessary to increase his skills to become a safe and effective remote nurse and constantly seeks ways to improve his knowledge and skills, including currently completing the final components of a Diploma in Emergency Nursing.

“I am blown away (to have won this award),” Stuart said.

“I came out as an Aged Care nurse six years ago and I up-skilled and am now a remote nurse.

“I am thankful for the opportunity.”
