The Broken Hill and South fire stations are opening their doors to the public this weekend.

Each will have an Open Day on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm.

Captain Peter Hynes said there will be a range of fun things to do.

“We will have a sausage sizzle, handouts, fire awareness, smoke alarm and a kitchen fire simulation,” Captain Hynes said.

“The trucks will be available to look in and we will run tours throughout each station.

“Our open days are always really popular.”

Captain Hynes said the Open Days were always popular with families.

“We see lots of families, school kids, grandparents bringing their grandchildren.

“The kids really love the trucks and the simulation always gets them excited.”

It was also a great time to visit the South Fire Station, if you haven’t before, he said.
