Police uncovered a significant amount of what appeared to be the drug ice in a local motel room yesterday.

About 11am police stopped a car in Iodide Street during a search that led them to an Argent Street motel where the methamphetamine was allegedly found.

Two South Australian men were taken into custody and were assisting local police with their inquiries.

Police were yesterday looking into the whereabouts of a third man, with inquiries into the drugs continuing.

“This seizure is a significant one and assists greatly in removing illegal drugs or ‘poison’ from our streets and neighbourhoods,” said Barrier LAC crime manager Mick Stoltenberg.

“It will only assist in the ongoing drive by police and local community to make our area safer and a better place to live.”

Anyone with information is urged to call local police.
