A big month of cupcake sales has led to a sweet cash donation for the hospital’s oncology unit.

Well-known local baker Anna Cain spent the month of May baking and selling cakes and raffling off product donations from local businesses to raise an impressive $1550.

$1000 of that total was handed over to the oncology unit yesterday, while the other $550 will be donated to the Cancer Council.

Anna said the donation split ensured there were local benefits from her work, along with a boost to cancer research efforts.

She produced over 400 cakes for the month with the help of assistants Brian Tumes, Dawn Russell, and a few other helpers.

Clinical nurse specialist David Stellini said the unit was extremely grateful for the donation, with the money to go towards the purchase of new specialised chairs for patients.
