Champagnat too strong

Wednesday, 24th February, 2010

House Champagnat has finished ahead of rivals McAuley and Joseph to win the 2010 Sacred Heart Swimming Carnival.

The carnival was held in warm, breezy conditions and attracted plenty of the school's young swimmers. The younger students took part in novelty events to increase their confidence in the water, while older swimmers concentrated on more serious competition. "We just encourage everyone to have a go and have fun in the water, that's our main emphasis," said Principal Trevor Rynne.

Mr Rynne said the students had all shown great enthusiasm throughout the day, while parents had offered great support in running the carnival.

Champagnat finished with a score of 303 points, ahead of McAuley (299) and Joseph (224). Jessica Pryor and Luca Napoli were named overall champion swimmers for the day.
