The BreastScreen service at the hospital has received a personalised touch thanks to a donation by the Silver City Quilters.

The ladies have created three colourful wall hangings to help brighten up the booth where the BreastScreen service runs.

The hangings feature cartoon depictions of women and has bright pink highlights, in keeping with BreastScreen’s colours.

The donation came about when a member of the Quilters attended the service for a mammogram and suggested the group could make some wall hangings for the waiting area.

“We’re really appreciative they took all this time to create this lovely work for us,” said BreastScreen administration officer, Kathy Gers.

“It really makes this area truly ours, it’s beautiful.”

BreastScreen is offering free mammogram screening in BH until Thursday, and will return in late August or early September.

Screening is recommended for all women aged over 50; it takes 20 minutes and is free. To book a mammogram contact 13 20 50.
