The Potters Society hosted one of the most prestigious female potters in Australia over the weekend.

The Society raised funds to run a two-day workshop conductedf by potter Janet DeBoos on Saturday and Sunday.

Janet works at the Australian National University and is the head of the ceramics department.

Society member Carolyn Martin said they held a “meet and greet” on Friday before getting into the workshop.

“About 20 members participated,” she said. “Janet showed us how to make ‘Terra sigillata’ which is a type of pottery finish.

“We have all been enjoying it.

“She has been very generous with her information; she is a wealth of knowledge.

“Janet has been in the industry for over 30 years. She has conducted workshops and demostrations in Australia, America and China.

“We’re all like sponges, just soaking up any information. We’re taking it all in.”
