Round two of Broken Hill soccer was played over the weekend with the seniors in action on Sunday afternoon.

In the early A Grade game, Celtic were 3-2 winners against Alma in a contest where Celtic had most of the possession but couldn’t quite put the Goats away. They held on though for a win and remain undefeated after two games.

Scorers for Celtic were young gun Kingsley McIntyre, veteran Jamie Berg and Dave Hassard who slotted a penalty shot. Alma’s two goals were scored by Terry Delbridge from a penalty and Sam Harrap.

In the second A Grade game, a weakened West Panthers side went down 1-nil early on to St Joes thanks to a cracking Luca Napoli goal. Napoli put St Joes up 2-nil after converting a penalty and Jon Carrett hit the score sheet to make it 3-nil. Linden Cox scored a late consolation goal for West and the game finished at 3-1.

St Joes also scored a big win in the B Grade, toppling the Panthers 9-3, while Alma just edged Celtic to take the other game 4-3.

The West women made it two from two with a comprehensive 4-1 defeat of St Joes. In the other game, the Alma ladies were just too good for Celtic, beating them 2-1.
