South businessman Jason King hopes to establish a Patton Village Organising Committee. South businessman Jason King hopes to establish a Patton Village Organising Committee.

A new community organisation is being set up in South Broken Hill and organisers are looking for members.

They are calling on enthusiastic, passionate community members to step up and be involved in the first ever ‘Patton Village Organising Committee’. The organisation hopes to ensure sustainable, long term improvements to the South area.

Local businessman and Patton Village supporter Jason King said: “Now is an exciting time for Broken Hill and an exciting time for Patton Village”. He said that after decades of talking about the idea of an organisation, now was the time to act.

Mr King got interested in the idea when City Councillor Jamie Mitchell began holding meetings with residents about South Broken Hill issues. “My vision for Patton Village is to really develop it as an alternative space for Broken Hill,” said Mr King.

He hopes that local business owners and community members can come together for the future. “It’s important for the purpose of promoting greater sense of community,” he added. He hopes local business owners and community members will join and meet regularly to discuss improvements to the area.

“Anyone’s welcome, as long as they’re positive,” he said. Those who wish to be involved should attend a meeting 6pm tomorrow at Bells Milk Bar, 160 Patton St.

Those who can’t make it, but would like to be involved should call Jason on 0414 917793.
