Silverton committee up for state award

The Silverton Village Community Reserve Trust is one of three finalists in the running for a major land and property management award next month.
The NSW Land and Property Management Authority Crown Reserve Trust Corporate Managers Award recognises groups, businesses and communities who play avital role in enhancing the social or economic sustainability throughout rural and regional NSW and the ACT.
Silverton Village Committee was established in 1999 and manages 13 reserves in Silverton, including the municipal chambers and the historic cemetery. The committee has a range of 50 volunteers in the various businesses across the township.
As Silverton has no formal local government, the committee establish and govern village policies and coordinate projects. During this time the committee has made improvements to the township including street signage, a town colour scheme, heritage trail with interpretive signage.
The winner of the Land and Property Management Authority Crown Reserve Trust Corporate Managers Award will receive a $5,000 Commonwealth Bank Award Saver account and a hand crafted glass trophy.
This year’s finalists and winners will be announced in Wollongong on Saturday, October 30.
