With the New Year underway it might be time to hit the gym, and the best way to stick to a New Year’s resolution is to do it with friends.

That’s according to YMCA Area Manager, Shane Simmons, who said people who sign up with family members, friends and partners tend to keep motivated.

Mr Simmons said many people make a resolution to stay fit and healthy, and with the right support it’s easy to stick to it.

“We historically see hundreds of locals taking advantage of our New Year offer,” he said.

“Each has their own individual goals and aspirations and my team are here to help.

“The New Year is a great way to make a promise of starting and maintaining a healthy and happy lifestyle.”

YMCA centres across NSW are running a special New Year offer that sees the first 40 new members to sign up at each site receive a free fitness welcome pack valued at $109.

The Broken Hill YMCA will also be running a stack of group exercise classes at the Fitness Centre and the Aquatic Centre in the New Year, which are included with membership.

“The promotion runs until February 29 and is only available to the first 40 people that sign up, so our recommendation would be to join with a friend and you can achieve goals together and keep motivated,” said Mr Simmons.
