Stitched with generosity

The Silver City Quilters have given $500 to the Silver City Cinema to aid with ensuring the construction of a disabled access chair lift.
“I’m just so impressed that the Broken Hill people have been so generous in their support,” said the cinema’s owner, John Wren.
Mr Wren has decided to order a chair lift for the cinema rather than an elevator due to the $15,000 a year certification cost and the problem of power surges.
“With a chair lift, it’s going to make it so much easier, so much more secure.”
Christine Brown said the decision to donate was due the Silver City Quilters’ members attending the cinema frequently, some every Sunday.
“We’ve got ladies that come every week and they would be lost without it.”
The cinema had also helped the club out with movie fundraisers, Ms Brown said.
