The NSW Environmental Protection Authority is investigating reports of a large dust haze coming from Perilya’s southern skimp dumps.

On Saturday, Railwaytown resident Brian Fenton noticed the airborne haze and  informed the EPA.

Mr Fenton said he was concerned that the dumps weren’t being managed properly even though their relocation several years ago was meant to help reduce the dust.

An EPA spokesperson said they had received the report and would be looking into the matter.

“Perilya is required, as a condition of its Environment Protection Licence, to maintain the premises in a condition which minimises or prevents the emission of dust,” the spokesperson said.

“We encourage community members to let us know if they suspect pollution is occurring, or has occurred, via our 24-hour Environment Line, 131 555.”
