Broken Hill welcomes Inspector Yvette Smith who is now transitioning from her command in the Central Darling Shire into the Silver City.
Insp. Smith has been living in Broken Hill for twelve months, and now the Officer in charge of the Northern Cluster, while the NSW Police issue a new inspector for Wilcannia.
Insp. Smith said she made some good connections in Wilcannia and the Central Darling Shire, but is overall excited for her new position in Broken Hill.
“I’m really hoping to continue on those connections here in Broken Hill, and be a part of the different groups, celebrations and committees they’ve got going on here,” she said.
With the NSW Police restructure to finish mid-February, Insp. Smith will continue on to be the Officer in charge of Broken Hill.
The yet to be confirmed Inspector of Wilcannia will be the Officer in charge of the Central Darling Shire and Unincorporated Area.
With an announcement to be made on the conclusion of the state-wide restructure, Insp. Smith reassures that police activity and community service will remain the same as the change is more focused upon senior management.
“Our police work will still continue the same, still got plenty of troops on the ground and we’re still operating as we’ve always done,” she said.
