Broken Hill will be saying goodbye to Sergeant Kerri Lane as she soon departs to continue her police service in Penrith.

Sgt Lane was stationed here in July 2012, clocking up about six-and-a-half years in the Silver City.

Initially moving from Griffith in Southern NSW, Sgt Lane said the scene change wasn’t very different, except for one thing.

“There wasn’t as much green.”

Over her time here, Sgt Lane found the locals and the general community very friendly.

Recalling when she was on patrol answering to a store fire, having a local come over to her and offer a bottle of water on duty.

“There are some lovely people here, lovely businesses,” she said.

Sgt Lane will miss the peace and quiet of a country town and ease of riding down the highways as she trades it in for peak hour traffic.

However, she is looking forward to the move.

Sgt Lane thanked the people of Broken Hill for the last couple of years, and wished them all the best.
