A white Mitsubishi Triton ute smashed into another ute parked in Brooks Street about 7.30 last night, just after negotiating a chicane designed to slow down local traffic.

The parked car was a 2003 Ford Courier and was up for sale. It suffered extensive front-end damage in the smash and is likely a write-off.

The back-end of the Triton also suffered major damage with the tray nearly torn from the back of the vehicle.

A man and two women were in the car, and they appeared to be unhurt, although paramedics arrived on the scene and offered assistance.

The loud bang of the crash and a scream alerted nearby residents who poured onto the North Broken Hill street to find out what was going on.

Broken glass and smashed parts of both cars were strewn across the road and footpath.

The Triton continued on for about 20 metres after impact, crossing the road again before coming to a halt near the driveway of a house on the opposite side.

Police were last night investigating the prang.
