Some sites at St Pats are close to being sold out with just over a week until race day.

The new addition of Wacky’s Bar on the lawn has less than 20 tickets left to sell while the Sports Bar will need to close their books by early next week.

The man behind the new bar, Wayne Walker, said the response has been swift and surprising.

“Because it is a new concept we were not sure how people would respond but they have certainly embraced the idea,” the former BHFL legend said.

The all-inclusive open bar includes a drinks package, race membership and food throughout the afternoon.

“I have hardly promoted it and the phone has been ringing non-stop,” he said.

“There are a lot of companies and small business houses using the area to entertain their employees and guests at the races.”

The other site that will need to stop selling by early next week is the Sports Bar, an area that is now in its third year and located under the shade sails.

First-year convenor Lindy Robins said the new-look packages have proven popular with race goers.

“It is a very relaxing way to spend your day.

“We include finger food and entry to St Pats in our price and you can purchase drinks from our private bar.”

Caterers need to be advised of numbers by next Tuesday, so sales of tickets in the Sports Bar may only run another few days.

“We have to be fair,” Ms Robins said.

“We can’t wait until Friday before the races to let them know how many people we are catering for.”

Tickets can be purchased from St Pats on 8087 7550.
