Transfer station halfway there

Monday, 28th May, 2018

A slab has been laid for a transfer station. A slab has been laid for a transfer station.

The station will allow up to 12 vehicles to simultaneously dump waste directly into skip bins, which will then be emptied by a hook-lift truck directly into landfill.
Council said once in place, tip users won’t be able to dump rubbish at the tip face.
The original site of the project was deemed unsuitable and an extra $200,000 was tipped into the project to move it to solid ground.
“Earthworks at the original site uncovered some stability issues that had the potential to cause problems over the life of the facility,” a Council spokesman said.
“The project is now around 50 per cent complete, and Council is aiming to complete construction in the coming months.”
