New art gallery to open in Menindee

A new art gallery is set to open in the Menindee Tourist Information Centre.
Artist and member of the Menindee Regional Tourist Association, Annette Minchin, said the Association came up with the idea for the gallery which will open on Friday.
"We brought the premises for the tourist shop and opened in March. At that point we had completed the shop," Ms Minchin said.
Real art in an age of plastic

The women’s arts group, Gaara Arts, will tonight present its third exhibition at the Broken Hill Regional Gallery.
“Plastic Lives - A Woman’s Tale” is one of three shows that will be opened tonight, the others being a new exhibition of prints by Badger Bates called “Kurnu Paakantji Stories”’ and a show by Jade Manly titled “interActions”.
Formed in 2008, Gaara holds an exhibition every two years to coincide with International Women’s Day.
Sea-crets of the deep

Children enjoyed getting their hands into the mysteries of the deep yesterday at the Regional Art Gallery’s holiday art program.
The gallery ran a “Creatures of the Deep” workshop yesterday which will continue on today for kids aged 8-14.
Children put their creative skills to work to make sculptures and paper mache of a variety of deep sea creatures such as vampire squid, gulper eels and angler fish.

The mysteries of the deep are being revealed at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery’s holiday program, and the results are just a little bit frightening!
The art gallery is running a ‘Creatures of the Deep’ workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday for kids aged 8-14.
Kids will use their creative skills and work together to make sculptures of a variety of ghoulish deep sea creatures such as vampire squid, gulper eels and angler fish.
