Teeing up for a big week

The Broken Hill Veterans Golf Club is gearing up for the annual Silver City Classic, a week-long golf feast of three competitions played over four days.
This is will be the seventh Silver City Classic and about 100 people are expected to take part in the event, including around 75 visitors.
Henderson wins Outback Open

Trevor Henderson has won the 2012 Outback Golf Open after a stellar Sunday round of four under par 68 saw him storm home to claim the title.
Henderson recorded a par round of 72 for the first 18 holes and coupled with his performance on Sunday, he recorded a total score
The victory is Henderson's second in the prestigious event in as many years and is the first time in a number of years that a winner of the event has shot under par.

Enjoying a round of golf will never be as rewarding as this.
To raise money for the care of the city’s war widows, Legacy is inviting golfers to get swinging at its charity golf day tomorrow at the BH Golf and Country Club.
Every year the four-person open attracts close to 100 players and keen golfer and Legacy secretary, Mark Winen, says he’s hoping they can get close to that number again.
Ace twice as nice

Ken Rogers has scored the second ace of his golfing career - and the feeling is twice as sweet.
The 65-year-old scored his first hole in one when he first started playing golf “around five or six years ago”, and said that he had no real concept at the time of how difficult the feat was.
Rogers hit his latest perfect shot on the Broken Hill Golf Club’s 8th hole while playing in the men’s stableford competition last week.
A lifetime of fun

Aspiring golfers will have a chance to take to the greens on Sunday at the Broken Hill Golf Club’s junior registration day.
New and returning players between the ages of 7 and 18 are invited to come along and sign up as the club looks to build on a successful 2011 season.
Coach Peter Jeffery said that youngsters who take up the sport will have an outlet for fun and fitness for the rest of their lives.
