Margaret moves on from Celtic

After eight years as a leader of the Celtic soccer club, Margaret Symes is stepping down as Club President and Junior President.

Margaret spent eight years as the Celtic Junior President and in the last three years has as added Club President to her duties.

Reflecting on her long stint with the club, Margaret says she had enjoyed her time.

Chinner hits top gear

Resident speedster Steve Chinner has won the Broken Hill Mountain Bike Club's annual Poker Race, in a time of 1:23:15, the third fastest time in the race's 14 year history.

The event held on Sunday attracted 35 riders, who came from as far away as Canberra to take on the Silverton Heritage Trail.

The race had previously run in June, but organisers made the switch to October in the hope of better weather conditions.

West has recorded their first win of the season with a three wicket victory over Central in their opening Twenty20 fixture of the summer.

Chasing the Central target of 122, West were able to reach their score in the 19th over.

Batting first, Central elected to send in Cameron Wells and Adam Rhodes to face the bowling of West's Withers and Christos.

With one of the Broken Hill Mountain Bike Clubs feature events, the 2012 Poker ride, just two days away, the club is calling for final nominations.

The Poker ride is being held on the picturesque Silverton Heritage Trail, with the start/finish line adjacent to the Silverton Hotel.

History will be made this month weekend when the first ever International Taekwondo Federation accredited Taekwondo tournament is held in Broken Hill.

The Western NSW Championships tournament will be held at the Railway Town School on Saturday, October 13.
