Sun set to shine

The prolonged winter weather may finally be at an end with the onset of a string of sunny days. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the temperature should remain in the low 20s over the next week. One local who stepped outside to enjoy the fine conditions was Jett Xavier Jackson Gabelloni. The three-year-old is shown with the pretty flowers growing outside his grandmother’s house yesterday afternoon.
Grand finals beckon

Basketball’s Spring competition is about to reach its climax with the grand finals being played tomorrow at the RK Sanderson Stadium.
To start the day rolling, the U/8 and U/10 teams will play their grand finals from 11:30am and they will be followed by the U/14 and U/16 games.
BH Basketball Association President Graeme Semmens predicted the U/16 boys final between the Sharks and Extreme would be a close one.
“It should be a real arm wrestle,” Mr Semmens said.
Spring sprang some surprises

The city has recorded a hotter than average spring and scorching temperatures are being forecast for summer.
Broken Hill broke its long-term average temperature for spring, recording a low of 15.9C and top of 29.6C. Last spring was cooler by more than four degrees in comparison.
Another unusual feature of the season was the three powerful storms that lashed the city last month.
