SCC happy to withdraw proposal

 By Darrin Manuel

If Council is unhappy with Southern Cross Care’s (SCC) proposal to build a new aged care facility they are more than welcome to build it themselves, according to SCC CEO Allan Carter.

Mr Carter’s comments come after Councillor Tom Kennedy accused SCC of pressuring Council into a decision regarding the creation of a new 60-bed aged care facility at the former Alma Pool site.

SCC had proposed to construct the facility if it could take over Council’s 40 aged care licences currently utilised by Shorty O’Neil Village, and successfully lobby the government for an additional 20 aged care beds.

Clear skies ahead

Wednesday, 21st December, 2011

We can expect a warm, dry Christmas this year despite the heavy downpour last weekend.

Weather Channel presenter Ken Heatley predicted a 38 degree day, mostly sunny with light winds.

“On Boxing day you may get an early morning shower but it will still reach 35 degrees,” he said.
